The properties that matter for medical spas

Type: MedicalBusiness. Every property below is a real schema.org property.

Key schema properties for medical spas
PropertyWhy it matters
@typeMedicalBusiness is the schema.org type for a business with a medical purpose. Use it only if your treatments are medical and supervised as your regulator requires. Otherwise DaySpa or HealthAndBeautyBusiness is the honest fit.
knowsAboutInjectables, laser and skin treatments are separate searches. Generic names match how people search better than brand names.
descriptionState the medical oversight plainly, for example “physician-directed”. It’s a trust signal and it’s what makes you a medical spa.
priceRangePricing varies widely by treatment. A single $$ is fine as a signal, but the real prices belong on treatment pages.
sameAsAesthetics clients check Instagram. Linking it helps search tools connect your profiles to one business.

Common mistakes

  • Using DaySpa or BeautySalon. If treatments are medical, MedicalBusiness describes you more accurately.

  • Listing only trademarked product names in knowsAbout. Use generic terms so you match real searches.

  • Marking up before-and-after testimonials as reviews. Self-serving review markup isn’t eligible for review stars in Google.

  • Adding isAcceptingNewPatients or medicalSpecialty. Neither is defined on MedicalBusiness, so I leave them out.

How to add it to your site

  1. Replace every example value in the form with your own details. They should match your Google Business Profile exactly.
  2. Copy the code and paste it into your page’s <head>. Most site builders have a custom code field. On a hand-built site, it goes in the template.
  3. Test the live page with Google’s Rich Results Test and validator.schema.org, and fix anything they flag.
  4. Add the same facts to the visible page. Structured data should describe what visitors can see. My website checklist for medical spas covers the rest.
FAQ

Schema for medical spas: questions

  1. MedicalBusiness, when treatments are done or overseen by medical professionals. DaySpa is for relaxation and beauty services. If you offer both, the medical side usually defines the business.

  2. I keep priceRange as a general signal and put real prices on the treatment pages. Detailed Offer markup is easy to let go stale.

  3. Name them on the page, and mark them up as Person on their own bio if you like. The business schema stays about the clinic.
