Schema markup generator for orthodontists

Orthodontic practices should use the Dentist type, since orthodontics is a dental specialty and schema.org has no separate orthodontist type. Fill in the form and I’ll build valid JSON-LD you can paste into your site’s head.

Your details

One or two factual sentences. The same words as your homepage intro work well.
International format: +1-403-…
A real photo of you, your team or your space.
Comma-separated, e.g. Mo-Fr 09:00-17:00, Sa 10:00-14:00
Optional. A symbol range like $ or a short text range.
Comma-separated cities or regions.
Use generic names, not just brand names. (knowsAbout)
schema.org has no separate orthodontics member.
Payment plans are worth naming. (paymentAccepted)
One URL per line: Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, Instagram, directories.

The properties that matter for orthodontists

Type: Dentist. Every property below is a real schema.org property.

Key schema properties for orthodontists
PropertyWhy it matters
knowsAboutThis is where orthodontics shows up, since there’s no orthodontist type. Braces, aligners and early treatment tell search tools what kind of dental practice you are.
descriptionIf you are a registered orthodontic specialist, say so in the first sentence, in the wording your regulator allows. It separates you from general dentists who also offer aligners. Only registered specialists may call themselves specialists.
areaServedFamilies travel further for an orthodontist than for a dentist. Listing the communities you draw from helps search tools understand your reach.
paymentAcceptedTreatment is a multi-year cost. Payment plans are a real factor and worth stating clearly.

Common mistakes

  • Using MedicalClinic or plain LocalBusiness. Dentist is the right type for orthodontics.

  • Listing only brand names like a single aligner system. Use generic terms too, so you match how people actually search.

  • Marking up before-and-after testimonials as reviews. Self-serving review markup isn’t eligible for review stars on LocalBusiness in Google.

How to add it to your site

  1. Replace every example value in the form with your own details. They should match your Google Business Profile exactly.
  2. Copy the code and paste it into your page’s <head>. Most site builders have a custom code field. On a hand-built site, it goes in the template.
  3. Test the live page with Google’s Rich Results Test and validator.schema.org, and fix anything they flag.
  4. Add the same facts to the visible page. Structured data should describe what visitors can see. My website checklist for orthodontists covers the rest.
FAQ

Schema for orthodontists: questions

  1. No. Orthodontists use the Dentist type, with knowsAbout and the description making the specialty clear. That’s accurate and widely understood.

  2. Say it on the page in plain words. isAcceptingNewPatients marks that you’re taking patients, and the visible text explains the referral side.

  3. Keep it in visible page content. I don’t add Offer markup for a free consult on the business entity, since it adds little and is easy to get wrong.
