Privacy

I collect what you send me through a form, plus basic site usage through Google Analytics. I use your details to reply and send what you asked for, and I never sell them or add you to a mailing list.

What I collect

When you use the contact form or a form on one of my guides or tools, I receive what you type in: usually your email address, and sometimes your name, your website, a message, or the answers you chose to send from a tool. The form also records which page it was sent from.

I use Google Analytics to see how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (city level), what device and browser they use, how they found the site, and when a form is sent. Google Analytics uses cookies to tell one visit from the next. It doesn’t give me your name or email, and I don’t use it for advertising.

Some free tools, like the website checklists, remember your progress in your own browser so you can come back to it. That stays on your device and is never sent to me.

Why I collect it

To reply to you, to send the thing you asked for (a checklist, a scope, a review of your site), and to follow up on that request. I don’t send newsletters or marketing email, and I don’t add you to any list. If that ever changes, I’ll ask first.

Where it is stored

Form submissions are received and stored by Netlify, the service that hosts this site, and are then delivered to my business email. Analytics data is processed by Google. These providers may store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. I don’t share your details with anyone else, and I never sell them.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiries for as long as they’re useful for the conversation or project, and delete form submissions I no longer need. If we work together, project records are kept as long as needed for the work and for tax and legal requirements.

Your choices

To stop Google Analytics from recording your visits, you can block or delete cookies in your browser, or install Google’s opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.

You can ask to see the information I hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Email nick@tavro.ca and I’ll respond within 30 days. I’m responsible for privacy at Tavro, so questions come straight to me.

If you’re not satisfied with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
