Website checklist for independent pharmacies
A good independent pharmacy website makes refills easy, shows what your pharmacists can do beyond dispensing, and tells people when you're open. This checklist covers that and everything else I check on every pharmacy site.

What a pharmacy website must get right first
An independent pharmacy wins on service, so the site should show it. Pharmacists in Alberta can do much more than fill prescriptions, and many people don't know it. Lead with refills and hours, then explain assessments, injections and the services that set you apart.
How to use this checklist
29 checks in 7 groups.
Open your website in another tab and go group by group.
Tick an item only when you have checked it on the live site, on a phone as well as a computer.
Start with content and conversion.
Those groups are the most specific to independent pharmacies, and they are where most enquiries are won or lost.
Leave technical and AI search items for last.
They matter, but they are easier to fix in one pass, and the free tools linked below help with most of them.

A note on compliance
Your website can count as advertising under the rules that apply to independent pharmacies. The compliance items here are prompts to check, not legal advice. Rules differ by province and change over time, so read the current standards from your regulator or licensing body before you publish testimonials, comparisons, prices or outcome claims.
Independent pharmacies websites: questions
Refills, hours and phone, then the services that set you apart. Most visits are routine, so make those one tap. The services pages are where new customers find you.
Yes. Many people don't know a pharmacist can assess minor ailments or renew some prescriptions. Clear pages for each service answer that and bring in searches the chains often miss.
Only through a secure system meant for health information. Link to your pharmacy software's refill tool, or use a form built for it. A generic contact form isn't the right place.
