Website checklist for consultants

A good consulting website tells a buyer in one screen what problem you solve, for whom, and what working together actually looks like. This checklist covers that and everything else I check on every consultancy site.

What a consultancy website must get right first

Consulting buyers are senior and sceptical, and they research quietly before reaching out. The site has to show a sharp point of view, real engagements and a clear way to start. Vague offers like strategy and transformation lose to specific problems with specific outcomes.

How to use this checklist

29 checks in 6 groups.

  1. Open your website in another tab and go group by group.

Tick an item only when you have checked it on the live site, on a phone as well as a computer.

  2. Start with content and conversion.

Those groups are the most specific to consultants, and they are where most enquiries are won or lost.

  3. Leave technical and AI search items for last.

They matter, but they are easier to fix in one pass, and the free tools linked below help with most of them.

  4. Your ticks are saved in this browser.

Come back any time. Print it if you want to work through it with your team.

FAQ

Consultants websites: questions

  1. The problem you solve and who you solve it for, in one plain sentence. Then proof. Buyers decide quickly whether you're relevant, so make relevance obvious.

  2. Yes, written carefully. Describe the sector, situation and result without naming the client. A specific anonymized story beats a list of logos with no context.

  3. A range or a typical engagement size helps. It sets expectations and filters out poor fits. You can still tailor every proposal.
