Website checklist for bookkeepers

A good bookkeeping website tells an owner what you'll take off their plate each month, what it costs, and which software you work in. This checklist covers that and everything else I check on every bookkeeping site.

What a bookkeeping business website must get right first

Bookkeeping clients are busy owners who want relief and predictability. The site should show monthly packages, the software you use, and how catch-up work is handled. Be clear about where bookkeeping ends and accounting begins, so clients know who files what.

How to use this checklist

29 checks in 6 groups.

  1. Open your website in another tab and go group by group.

Tick an item only when you have checked it on the live site, on a phone as well as a computer.

  2. Start with content and conversion.

Those groups are the most specific to bookkeepers, and they are where most enquiries are won or lost.

  3. Leave technical and AI search items for last.

They matter, but they are easier to fix in one pass, and the free tools linked below help with most of them.

Come back any time. Print it if you want to work through it with your team.

FAQ

Bookkeepers websites: questions

  1. I recommend showing package ranges. Owners want to know whether you fit their budget before they book a call. A range with what changes the price is enough.

  2. In one short section: what you handle every month and what an accountant handles at year end. Owners appreciate the clarity, and it prevents scope surprises later.

  3. They help. Owners already using QuickBooks or Xero look for someone who knows it well. Show the certifications you actually hold near your packages.
