Schema markup generator for veterinary clinics
Veterinary clinics should use the VeterinaryCare type, paired with LocalBusiness so hours and payment details are valid. Fill in the form and I’ll build valid JSON-LD you can paste into your site’s head.

The properties that matter for veterinary clinics
Type: VeterinaryCare. Every property below is a real schema.org property.
| Property | Why it matters |
|---|---|
isAcceptingNewPatients | Pet owners often struggle to find a clinic taking new patients. A current answer in markup helps search tools give a straight one. |
openingHours | Late and weekend hours separate you from clinics that close at five. Be precise, and don’t imply 24-hour care if you don’t offer it. |
knowsAbout | Dentistry, surgery and urgent care are separate searches. Listing them helps search tools match you to the right one. |
description | Name the animals you treat. A cats-and-dogs clinic and an exotics or large animal practice serve very different searches. |
Common mistakes
Using MedicalClinic, or plain LocalBusiness on its own. VeterinaryCare is the specific type.
Calling the clinic an emergency hospital in markup when it only offers urgent care in business hours. That misleads people at the worst moment.
Marking up pet owner testimonials as reviews. Self-serving review markup isn’t eligible for review stars in Google.
How to add it to your site
- Replace every example value in the form with your own details. They should match your Google Business Profile exactly.
- Copy the code and paste it into your page’s
<head>. Most site builders have a custom code field. On a hand-built site, it goes in the template. - Test the live page with Google’s Rich Results Test and validator.schema.org, and fix anything they flag.
- Add the same facts to the visible page. Structured data should describe what visitors can see. My website checklist for veterinary clinics covers the rest.
Schema for veterinary clinics: questions
VeterinaryCare. It’s the schema.org type for veterinary practices. AnimalShelter is for adoption and rescue organisations.
Yes. Leave out the street address and list the communities you visit in areaServed. Make the house-call model clear in the description.
Mark up your real hours only. If you refer after-hours cases elsewhere, say that on the page rather than stretching your hours in the schema.
