The properties that matter for realtors

Type: RealEstateAgent. Every property below is a real schema.org property.

Key schema properties for realtors

sameAsLink your brokerage profile page and social accounts so search engines can connect them to you.

Common mistakes

  • Putting your listings inside the RealEstateAgent block. Listings belong on their own pages; your agent markup should describe you.

  • Using the brokerage’s name and address as if they were yours alone. Name yourself or your team, and show your brokerage clearly on the page.

  • Adding review stars from testimonials on your own site. Google won’t show self-serving review stars for a LocalBusiness.

How to add it to your site

  1. Replace every example value in the form with your own details. They should match your Google Business Profile exactly.
  2. Copy the code and paste it into your page’s <head>. Most site builders have a custom code field. On a hand-built site, it goes in the template.
  3. Test the live page with Google’s Rich Results Test and validator.schema.org, and fix anything they flag.
  4. Add the same facts to the visible page. Structured data should describe what visitors can see. My website checklist for realtors covers the rest.
FAQ

Schema for realtors: questions

  1. Yes. RealEstateAgent is a subtype of LocalBusiness for agents and agencies. It is the most specific fit.

  2. Schema.org has a RealEstateListing type for listing pages. Google doesn’t show special results for it today, so I focus on the agent markup first.

  3. Use the office address you work from and publish. Make sure it matches your Google Business Profile, if you have one.
