The properties that matter for electricians
Type: Electrician. Every property below is a real schema.org property.
| Property | Why it matters |
|---|---|
knowsAbout | EV chargers, panel upgrades and old-wiring replacement are specific searches. Listing them helps AI tools match you to the job. |
areaServed | You go to the customer. Name the areas you cover so people know you’ll come to them. |
telephone | Electrical problems feel urgent. A phone number you answer matters more than a contact form. |
openingHours | Clear office hours help people know when to expect a call back. |
sameAs | Link your Google Business Profile and trade association listing so your identity lines up across the web. |
Common mistakes
Using plain LocalBusiness when Electrician exists. The specific type says exactly what you do.
Showing a home address for a service-area business. Leave the street out and use areaServed.
Claiming services in schema that you don’t offer on the site. What the markup says should match what the page says.
How to add it to your site
- Replace every example value in the form with your own details. They should match your Google Business Profile exactly.
- Copy the code and paste it into your page’s
<head>. Most site builders have a custom code field. On a hand-built site, it goes in the template. - Test the live page with Google’s Rich Results Test and validator.schema.org, and fix anything they flag.
- Add the same facts to the visible page. Structured data should describe what visitors can see. My website checklist for electricians covers the rest.
Schema for electricians: questions
There isn’t a simple, widely supported property for a trade licence on a business. Show it clearly on your About page instead. Search engines read that text.
No. One business markup on your home or contact page is the core. Service pages need clear headings and plain explanations.
The map pack is driven mainly by your Google Business Profile, distance and reviews. Schema helps search engines understand your site and confirm it matches your profile.
