Website checklist for speakers and authors

A good speaker and author website gives an event planner everything they need to book you, and gives a reader every way to buy the book. This checklist covers that and everything else I check on every personal brand site.

What a personal brand website must get right first

Two audiences visit: planners deciding whether you fit their stage, and readers or fans. Planners need a reel, topics, testimonials and a booking form. Readers need the book, where to buy it, and a reason to join your list. Your name is the brand, so the site has to rank for it.

How to use this checklist

29 checks in 6 groups.

  1. Open your website in another tab and go group by group.

Tick an item only when you have checked it on the live site, on a phone as well as a computer.

  2. Start with content and conversion.

Those groups are the most specific to speakers and authors, and they are where most enquiries are won or lost.

  3. Leave technical and AI search items for last.

They matter, but they are easier to fix in one pass, and the free tools linked below help with most of them.

FAQ

Speakers and authors websites: questions

  1. A reel, clear topics, testimonials from other planners, and a booking form. A fee range helps too. If they can't find these quickly, they move on to the next speaker.

  2. Usually, yes. They reinforce each other and keep authority on one domain. I give each its own section so planners and readers each find their path.

  3. Use your name consistently, describe yourself the same way everywhere, and link your site from your publisher, social and speaking profiles. Person structured data helps tie it together.
