Website checklist for event venues

An event venue website has to show the space, the capacity and the date availability clearly enough to start a real conversation. This checklist covers spaces, packages, availability and tour booking, then everything else I check.

What a venue website must get right first

Planners and couples compare venues quickly. They need capacity by layout, real photos set for different events, what is included, and whether their date is open. I start with detailed space pages, honest pricing guidance, and an enquiry form that asks for date and guest count first.

How to use this checklist

28 checks in 7 groups.

  1. Open your website in another tab and go group by group.

Tick an item only when you have checked it on the live site, on a phone as well as a computer.

  2. Start with content and conversion.

Those groups are the most specific to event venues, and they are where most enquiries are won or lost.

  3. Leave technical and AI search items for last.

They matter, but they are easier to fix in one pass, and the free tools linked below help with most of them.

  4. Your ticks are saved in this browser.

Come back any time. Print it if you want to work through it with your team.

A note on compliance

Your website can count as advertising under the rules that apply to event venues. The compliance items here are prompts to check, not legal advice. Rules differ by province and change over time, so read the current standards from your regulator or licensing body before you publish testimonials, comparisons, prices or outcome claims.

FAQ

Event venues websites: questions

  1. Starting prices or minimums by day and season help planners shortlist. Without any guidance, many will skip you rather than ask.

  2. Capacity by layout, floor plan, real photos set for events, what is included and what it suits. That answers most of a planner’s first questions.

  3. Yes. Couples and corporate planners care about different things, from ceremony spaces to AV and breakout rooms. Each deserves its own page.
