Duda alternatives

A custom website suits businesses that want a site they own outright after years in an agency account, and WordPress suits owners who want open-source and a choice of developers. Squarespace and Wix suit owners ready to edit their own site, and Webflow suits teams with a designer.

Why people leave Duda

  • The site lives in someone else’s account

If an agency built your site on Duda, it sits in their account. When the relationship ends, so can your access.

  • You pay monthly for something you don’t own

The fee often bundles the site, hosting and support. After a few years, owners start asking what they’d have if they stopped paying.

  • Design can look like the agency’s other clients

Some agencies use Duda to run many similar sites. That’s efficient for them and can leave you looking like a template.

What to look for in a replacement

  • Ownership in writing

This time, make sure your name is on the domain, the hosting and the code or content. Ask before you sign.

  • Keep what Duda did well

Duda puts real weight on speed and local business features. The replacement shouldn’t be slower or weaker on local SEO.

  • A realistic editing plan

The agency used to make every change. Decide whether you’ll edit yourself or want someone to handle it.

When to stay on Duda

If your agency is responsive, the site performs well and the monthly fee buys real ongoing work, staying is fine. Duda is a capable platform with a genuine focus on speed. Just make sure you control your domain and your Google Business Profile, so you’re never stuck if things change.

Migration checklist

What to do, in order, when you leave Duda.

  1. Confirm who owns the domain

Look up the registrar and the account holder. If the agency registered it, ask for it to be transferred into your name first.

  2. Request your content and assets

Ask the agency for page copy, images, logos and any blog posts. Duda can export a static copy of the site, but forms and other dynamic features stop working in it, so the content and assets matter more.

  3. Get access to analytics and Search Console

Make sure you own Google Analytics, Search Console and your Google Business Profile, not the agency.

  4. List every URL and local page

Crawl the site, including service and location pages. These usually carry your local rankings and need careful redirects.

  5. Rebuild with the local SEO intact

Carry over LocalBusiness schema, NAP details, titles and descriptions so you don’t lose ground in the local pack.

  6. Redirect, repoint and give notice

Set up 301 redirects, update DNS, confirm everything works, then end the agency contract per its notice terms.

FAQ

Leaving Duda, answered

  1. Not as a working, editable site. Duda lets account owners and staff export a static copy, but forms and dynamic features stop working. Ask what they can hand over; at minimum, get your content, images and domain.

  2. Whoever registered it. Check the registrar records, and if it’s the agency, ask them to transfer it to you before you leave.

  3. Not if you redirect every page, keep your business details consistent and keep your Google Business Profile in your own control.
