Duda vs Squarespace
Squarespace is the better pick if you want to own the editing and like its polished templates. Duda makes sense if you want an agency to run your site and care more about local SEO features than design. Both keep the site on their platform.

Side by side
Ratings are my own assessment for a typical small business, as of October 2026. Platforms change their features and plans often, so check the vendor’s current documentation before you decide.

Which one suits you
Choose Duda if…
- you want an agency to build and update everything
- local business schema and page speed are priorities
- you’d rather pay for service than learn an editor
Choose Squarespace if…
- you want to make changes yourself, whenever you like
- design polish matters more than technical SEO depth
- you want a small shop or scheduling in the same place
The difference that matters most
On paper Duda has the edge for local search and speed, while Squarespace has the edge for looks. In practice the bigger difference is who is in charge. On Squarespace, you are. On Duda, your agency is, and your site lives in their account.
A boutique interior designer who wants to swap in new project photos every month will be happier on Squarespace. A busy HVAC company that never wants to log in may prefer Duda through a reliable agency.
Where each one leads
Counted from my ratings in the table above.
Duda leads on seo control and performance.
Squarespace leads on ownership and portability, design freedom, e-commerce and learning curve.
Best fit for Duda: businesses whose agency manages the site end to end. Best fit for Squarespace: creatives, studios and small brands that want a good-looking site quickly.
Switching between them
From Squarespace, some pages, galleries and one blog export in WordPress format, and products as CSV; layouts don’t. From Duda, the export is a static copy and goes through the agency’s account. Either way, plan a rebuild, keep a URL list and set up 301 redirects on the new platform.
Duda vs Squarespace, answered
Duda puts more emphasis on local business features. Squarespace has good defaults, including automatic structured data, with less advanced control. Your content and Google Business Profile still matter more.
Sometimes a site can be transferred between Duda accounts, but it depends on both agencies. Ask before you sign.
Duda gives you more SEO control. Duda: Good controls, including schema for local businesses. Squarespace: Good defaults and editable titles, descriptions and redirects; less advanced control.
Duda (platform-only): Account owners or staff can export a static copy (HTML, CSS and images); forms and other dynamic features stop working. Ask your agency what you’d get before you sign. Squarespace (partial): Some pages, galleries and one blog export in WordPress format, and products export separately as CSV. Layouts, styling and code don’t.
