AI website builders vs Duda
An AI builder suits an owner who wants to do it alone, cheaply, today. Duda suits an owner who wants someone else to handle the site entirely and is comfortable with that agency holding the account. Neither gives you much of an editable site to take with you if you leave.

Side by side
Ratings are my own assessment for a typical small business, as of October 2026. Platforms change their features and plans often, so check the vendor’s current documentation before you decide.
| AI website builders | Duda | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Tools like Durable and 10Web that generate a whole site from a prompt. | A white-label builder agencies use to build and manage client sites. |
| Ownership and portability | Platform-onlyVaries by tool; WordPress-based tools are the most portable. | Platform-onlyThe site usually lives in the agency’s account; its export is a static copy. |
| SEO control | AdequateBasic fields filled in automatically. | StrongGood controls, including schema for local businesses. |
| AI-search readiness | MixedVaries by tool; generated copy needs your own detail before it gives AI tools much to cite. | MixedDecent structure; content quality depends on the agency. |

| Maintenance burden | MinimalManaged. | MinimalThe agency handles it. |
| Learning curve | EasyAnswer a few questions. | GentleBuilt for professionals, not owners. |
| Pricing model | Low monthly subscription, sometimes bundled with CRM or invoicing extras. | Agencies pay Duda; you usually pay the agency a monthly fee that includes the site. |

Which one suits you
Choose AI website builders if…
- you’d rather pay a small subscription than a monthly agency fee
- you want to make changes yourself without waiting on anyone
- the site is a placeholder, not your main source of leads
Choose Duda if…
- you want an agency to build, update and look after the site for you
- local SEO features and page speed matter more to you than editing control
- you trust the agency and have read what happens if you part ways
The difference that matters most
The real difference is who does the work. With an AI builder you are the web team: you answer the prompts, fix the copy and publish. With Duda, an agency builds the site in its own account and you usually get, at most, a simplified editor.
A dental office that wants nothing to do with its website will be happier with a decent agency on Duda. A dog walker testing a new neighbourhood will be happier generating a page in an evening and moving on.
Where each one leads
Counted from my ratings in the table above.
AI website builders leads on learning curve.
Duda leads on seo control, performance and design freedom.
Best fit for AI website builders: a placeholder while the real site is planned. Best fit for Duda: businesses whose agency manages the site end to end.
Switching between them
Neither direction carries much over. Duda can export a static copy, but forms and dynamic features stop working and the site sits in the agency’s account, so ask them for your text, images and a list of URLs before you cancel. Many AI builders offer little beyond your text. Either way, plan to rebuild the pages, keep the domain under your own control and redirect the old URLs.
AI website builders vs Duda, answered
Duda has added AI-assisted tools for agencies, but you rarely use Duda directly. The agency decides how the site is built and what you can edit.
An AI builder’s subscription is usually lower than an agency’s monthly fee, but the agency fee includes someone’s time. Compare what you get, not just the number.
Duda gives you more SEO control. AI website builders: Basic fields filled in automatically. Duda: Good controls, including schema for local businesses.
AI website builders (platform-only): Depends on the tool. WordPress-based tools like 10Web produce a WordPress site; closed builders usually offer little beyond your content. Duda (platform-only): Account owners or staff can export a static copy (HTML, CSS and images); forms and other dynamic features stop working. Ask your agency what you’d get before you sign.
