Schema markup generator for mortgage brokers
Mortgage brokers should use the FinancialService type, the LocalBusiness subtype for financial businesses. Fill in the form and I’ll build valid JSON-LD you can paste into your site’s head.

The properties that matter for mortgage brokers
Type: FinancialService. Every property below is a real schema.org property.
| Property | Why it matters |
|---|---|
knowsAbout | First-time buyers, renewals and self-employed borrowers search very differently. Naming them helps search tools match you. |
feesAndCommissionsSpecification | Many buyers don’t know brokers are usually paid by the lender. A clear explanation page is a trust signal worth referencing. |
areaServed | Brokers are licensed provincially. List Alberta or your licensed provinces so search tools don’t overstate your reach. |
knowsLanguage | Mortgages are high-stakes. Working in a first language is a real reason people choose a broker. |
Common mistakes
Putting rates in the schema. Rates change constantly and stale numbers mislead. Keep them on the page with a date.
Using the brokerage network’s details instead of your own office. Describe your practice.
Marking up client reviews you posted on your own site. Self-serving review markup isn’t eligible for review stars in Google.
How to add it to your site
- Replace every example value in the form with your own details. They should match your Google Business Profile exactly.
- Copy the code and paste it into your page’s
<head>. Most site builders have a custom code field. On a hand-built site, it goes in the template. - Test the live page with Google’s Rich Results Test and validator.schema.org, and fix anything they flag.
- Add the same facts to the visible page. Structured data should describe what visitors can see. My website checklist for mortgage brokers covers the rest.
Schema for mortgage brokers: questions
Not as a business type. FinancialService is the right fit. There is a MortgageLoan type, but that describes a loan product, not a brokerage.
I don’t. Rates move often, and stale markup is worse than none. Keep rates on a dated page instead.
If clients don’t visit, leave out the street address and use areaServed. Use your brokerage office address only if that’s where you actually meet people.
