HubSpot CMS vs Wix
For a small business that isn’t already using HubSpot, Wix is usually the practical choice: easier, cheaper to run and full of built-in tools like bookings. HubSpot CMS makes sense for a company whose sales and marketing already run in HubSpot and need the website plugged into the same CRM. Wix is built for one owner; HubSpot is built for a team.

Side by side
Ratings are my own assessment for a typical small business, as of October 2026. Platforms change their features and plans often, so check the vendor’s current documentation before you decide.
| HubSpot CMS | Wix | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A CMS wired into HubSpot’s CRM, for teams already living in HubSpot. | The all-in-one drag-and-drop builder with an app for everything. |
| Ownership and portability | PartialContent exports; templates are HubSpot-only. | Platform-onlyYour content is yours, and some data exports as CSV, but the site itself can’t leave Wix. |
| SEO control | StrongSolid controls and guidance. | StrongTitles, redirects, robots.txt and custom structured data are all editable. |
| AI-search readiness | GoodServer-rendered pages; schema through modules or code. | GoodPages are server-rendered and some page types get structured data automatically; custom markup is possible. |
| Performance | GoodGood hosting; marketing scripts can add weight. | VariesMuch improved, though in my testing mobile pages often carry more script than lean sites. |
| Design freedom | FlexibleCustom themes possible with a developer. | FlexibleFreeform canvas; Wix Studio adds more responsive control. |
| E-commerce | BasicPayment links and quotes, not a full online store. | GoodGood for small catalogues and bookings. |
| Maintenance burden | MinimalManaged. | MinimalWix handles hosting, updates and security. |
| Learning curve | ModerateThe HubSpot ecosystem takes time to learn. | EasyDrag, drop, publish. |
| Pricing model | Tiered subscription, often bundled with other HubSpot hubs; costs scale with tier and seats. | Monthly or yearly subscription. Paid plans remove Wix ads and connect your domain; some apps add their own fees. |
| Day-to-day editing | HubSpot’s drag-and-drop page editor. | The Wix editor in the browser, or the Wix app on a phone. |
Which one suits you
Choose HubSpot CMS if…
- you already pay for HubSpot’s sales or marketing tools
- leads need to be scored, assigned and followed up by a sales team
- developers will build and maintain custom modules
Choose Wix if…
- you’re building and editing it yourself
- you need online booking, a small store or events built in
- keeping software costs low matters
The difference that matters most
The scale of the operation behind the site. Wix is made for an owner who handles everything. HubSpot assumes a team: marketers building landing pages, sales reps following up on leads, and someone reading attribution reports.
A Calgary hair salon gets more from Wix Bookings than from any CRM. A regional HVAC distributor with dealer inquiries routed to four reps would find HubSpot’s lead handling worth the cost. Wix does have its own contact management, but it’s light next to HubSpot. Both can track conversions; HubSpot ties them to named contacts.
Where each one leads
Counted from my ratings in the table above.
HubSpot CMS leads on ownership and portability and performance.
Wix leads on e-commerce and learning curve.
Best fit for HubSpot CMS: companies already invested in HubSpot’s CRM. Best fit for Wix: owners who want to build and edit a site themselves, quickly.
Switching between them
There’s no importer between them. From Wix to HubSpot, export blog posts where you can, then have a developer build HubSpot templates and recreate pages. From HubSpot to Wix, export pages and blog content and rebuild on a Wix template. Set 301 redirects for changed URLs on the new platform before moving the domain.
HubSpot CMS vs Wix, answered
Yes. HubSpot offers a Wix integration, so form submissions can flow into the CRM without moving the site to HubSpot CMS.
For a custom theme, yes. Marketers can build pages with drag-and-drop modules once the theme exists, but setting it up well takes development work.
They’re roughly level on SEO control. HubSpot CMS: Solid controls and guidance. Wix: Titles, redirects, robots.txt and custom structured data are all editable.
HubSpot CMS (partial): Pages and blog posts export as HTML; templates only run on HubSpot, so the design is rebuilt. Wix (platform-only): Contacts, store products and CMS collections export as CSV; blog posts usually move with a migration tool or by hand. The design and pages have to be rebuilt.
