HubSpot CMS vs Squarespace
Most small businesses that don’t already use HubSpot will be better served by Squarespace: lower cost, easier editing and good-looking results. HubSpot CMS earns its price when your team runs sales and marketing in HubSpot and needs every form, page and email in one system. The real question is whether you use the CRM.

Side by side
Ratings are my own assessment for a typical small business, as of October 2026. Platforms change their features and plans often, so check the vendor’s current documentation before you decide.

Which one suits you
Choose HubSpot CMS if…
- your contacts, deals and email already live in HubSpot
- you run campaigns with landing pages and want attribution end to end
- a developer will build custom themes and modules
Choose Squarespace if…
- you want a beautiful site you can edit yourself without training
- long-term software costs need to stay modest
- you need scheduling or a small store built in
The difference that matters most
HubSpot is a site attached to a CRM; Squarespace is a site. With HubSpot, a contact form fill shows up as a contact with the pages they viewed, ready for a sales follow-up. Squarespace collects form submissions and sends email campaigns, but there’s no sales pipeline behind them.
A Calgary commercial architecture firm with a business development team and a long sales cycle could justify HubSpot. A solo interior designer would pay for features she’d never open, and Squarespace’s templates would serve her portfolio better.
Where each one leads
Counted from my ratings in the table above.
HubSpot CMS leads on seo control, ai-search readiness and performance.
Squarespace leads on e-commerce and learning curve.
Best fit for HubSpot CMS: companies already invested in HubSpot’s CRM. Best fit for Squarespace: creatives, studios and small brands that want a good-looking site quickly.
Switching between them
HubSpot pages and blog posts can be exported, but nothing imports neatly into Squarespace’s layout system, so expect to rebuild pages on a template and paste content in. From Squarespace to HubSpot, some pages, galleries and one blog export in WordPress format, HubSpot can import the blog, and the theme is rebuilt by a developer. Either way, map old URLs with 301 redirects before switching DNS.
HubSpot CMS vs Squarespace, answered
Yes. You can add HubSpot’s tracking code and forms to Squarespace and use the free CRM to manage contacts, without moving the site to HubSpot CMS.
Often, unless you’re already using HubSpot for sales or email. The value is in the connection to the CRM; on its own, a simpler builder does the job for less.
HubSpot CMS gives you more SEO control. HubSpot CMS: Solid controls and guidance. Squarespace: Good defaults and editable titles, descriptions and redirects; less advanced control.
HubSpot CMS (partial): Pages and blog posts export as HTML; templates only run on HubSpot, so the design is rebuilt. Squarespace (partial): Some pages, galleries and one blog export in WordPress format, and products export separately as CSV. Layouts, styling and code don’t.
