GoDaddy Website Builder vs Wix
In my view Wix is the stronger builder for most small businesses: more design freedom, more SEO settings and built-in bookings. GoDaddy is simpler and faster to finish, which suits an owner who wants the basics online and never wants to open an editor again. Both keep the design on their platform if you leave.

Side by side
Ratings are my own assessment for a typical small business, as of October 2026. Platforms change their features and plans often, so check the vendor’s current documentation before you decide.
| GoDaddy Website Builder | Wix | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A quick, simple builder bundled with your domain. | The all-in-one drag-and-drop builder with an app for everything. |

Which one suits you
Choose GoDaddy Website Builder if…
- you want guided sections that make the layout choices for you
- having everything at one company, domain included, is the priority
- your site is essentially a digital business card
Choose Wix if…
- you want bookings, forms or a small store built in
- you need editable redirects, robots.txt and more SEO control
- you plan to tinker with the layout yourself over time
The difference that matters most
Wix gives you a canvas; GoDaddy gives you a form. With Wix you can drag elements anywhere and add apps for bookings or memberships. With GoDaddy you pick a section type and fill it in. That makes GoDaddy harder to get wrong and Wix far easier to make your own.
For an Airdrie massage therapist who wants clients booking online, Wix Bookings handles that natively. For a renovation contractor who just needs a gallery and a quote form, GoDaddy may be all he ever uses. Wix also offers more technical SEO settings, which matters once you start competing in search.
Where each one leads
Counted from my ratings in the table above.
GoDaddy Website Builder doesn’t clearly lead Wix on any of the factors above.
Wix leads on seo control, ai-search readiness, design freedom and e-commerce.
Best fit for GoDaddy Website Builder: getting a basic presence online the same day. Best fit for Wix: owners who want to build and edit a site themselves, quickly.
Switching between them
There’s no import path between them. Moving from GoDaddy to Wix means picking a Wix template, rebuilding each page and copying content across. Moving from Wix to GoDaddy is the same, though Wix exports some data as CSV. On whichever platform you land on, map each old URL with a 301 redirect so links and rankings carry over.
GoDaddy Website Builder vs Wix, answered
A little. Wix has more options, so there’s more to learn and more ways to make a messy page. Most owners are comfortable within a day or two.
Wix. Its bookings app handles services, staff schedules and online payment. GoDaddy offers appointment features on some plans, but they’re simpler.
Wix gives you more SEO control. GoDaddy Website Builder: Covers the basics, like page titles and descriptions; fewer advanced settings. Wix: Titles, redirects, robots.txt and custom structured data are all editable.
GoDaddy Website Builder (platform-only): No built-in site export. Plan to copy content by hand. Wix (platform-only): Contacts, store products and CMS collections export as CSV; blog posts usually move with a migration tool or by hand. The design and pages have to be rebuilt.
