Showit vs Wix

Wix is the more versatile choice for most small businesses, with bookings, stores and stronger SEO settings in one place. Showit is the better tool for a photographer or creative who wants an editorial design and a WordPress-powered blog, and is happy maintaining separate mobile layouts. Who you are is the clearest guide here.

Which one suits you

Choose Showit if…

  • you’re a photographer, stylist or creative and the look is the brand
  • you want a WordPress blog behind your design
  • you want to design the mobile layout by hand

Choose Wix if…

  • you need bookings, payments, memberships or events built in
  • you want more SEO control on your main pages
  • you prefer an app market to extend the site as you grow

The difference that matters most

Both are freeform, but Showit makes you design mobile separately while Wix adapts the desktop layout for you, and Wix Studio adds more responsive control. Showit’s blog runs on WordPress; Wix’s blog is its own.

A Calgary wedding florist who posts each event with dozens of photos would value Showit’s look and WordPress blog. A life coach who sells sessions, runs a group program and sends reminders would get further with Wix’s built-in tools. On both, keep an eye on image optimization, since heavy pages are a common weakness.

Where each one leads

Counted from my ratings in the table above.

Showit leads on ownership and portability and design freedom.

Wix leads on seo control, ai-search readiness, e-commerce, maintenance burden and learning curve.

Best fit for Showit: photographers and creatives who want a visual, editorial look. Best fit for Wix: owners who want to build and edit a site themselves, quickly.

Switching between them

Neither imports the other’s pages, so design is rebuilt either way. Moving from Showit, export the WordPress blog; moving from Wix, export blog posts where possible. Rebuild pages on the new platform, then map changed URLs with 301 redirects before pointing the domain.
