Hostinger Website Builder vs Wix
Wix is the more capable builder, with bookings, deeper SEO settings and a larger app market, which makes it the safer pick for a service business that plans to grow. Hostinger is cheaper and simpler, a sensible choice for a side business or a site that just needs to exist. Both keep the design on their own platform.

Side by side
Ratings are my own assessment for a typical small business, as of October 2026. Platforms change their features and plans often, so check the vendor’s current documentation before you decide.
| Hostinger Website Builder | Wix | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A budget builder with AI site generation, bundled with hosting. | The all-in-one drag-and-drop builder with an app for everything. |
| Ownership and portability | PartialContent can be exported to WordPress; the design, store and settings stay on Hostinger. | Platform-onlyYour content is yours, and some data exports as CSV, but the site itself can’t leave Wix. |
| SEO control | AdequateMeta fields and sitemaps; few advanced settings. | StrongTitles, redirects, robots.txt and custom structured data are all editable. |
| AI-search readiness | MixedSimple pages render fine; generated copy needs your own detail before it gives AI tools much to cite. | GoodPages are server-rendered and some page types get structured data automatically; custom markup is possible. |
| Performance | GoodSimple sites load reasonably fast. | VariesMuch improved, though in my testing mobile pages often carry more script than lean sites. |
| Design freedom | LimitedGrid editor with modest freedom. | FlexibleFreeform canvas; Wix Studio adds more responsive control. |
| E-commerce | BasicA basic store is included on some plans. | GoodGood for small catalogues and bookings. |
| Maintenance burden | MinimalFully managed. | MinimalWix handles hosting, updates and security. |
| Learning curve | EasyEasy, especially with the AI start. | EasyDrag, drop, publish. |
| Pricing model | Low-cost subscription, usually prepaid for longer terms; renewal rates can differ from the first term. | Monthly or yearly subscription. Paid plans remove Wix ads and connect your domain; some apps add their own fees. |
| Day-to-day editing | Drag-and-drop grid editor. | The Wix editor in the browser, or the Wix app on a phone. |
Which one suits you
Choose Hostinger Website Builder if…
- you want the lowest running cost with hosting and email bundled
- an AI-built first draft is useful to you
- you need a handful of pages and nothing more
Choose Wix if…
- customers should be able to book or pay online
- you want editable redirects, robots.txt and custom schema
- you expect to add features as the business grows
The difference that matters most
Range of features decides it. Both editors are easy. But Wix’s app market covers bookings, events, memberships and stores, and its SEO tools now let you edit most of what matters. Hostinger’s builder covers the basics and stops there.
For a Calgary dog groomer who wants clients to book slots online and get reminders, Wix does that in-house. For a part-time tutor who just needs a page with contact details, Hostinger’s simplicity and price may be the better match. Count app fees on Wix when you compare running costs, and check whether you need structured data control at all.
Where each one leads
Counted from my ratings in the table above.
Hostinger Website Builder leads on ownership and portability and performance.
Wix leads on seo control, ai-search readiness, design freedom and e-commerce.
Best fit for Hostinger Website Builder: side businesses and early tests on a tight budget. Best fit for Wix: owners who want to build and edit a site themselves, quickly.
Switching between them
Neither platform imports from the other. Moving from Hostinger to Wix means choosing a template and rebuilding pages by hand; Wix to Hostinger is the same, though some Wix data exports as CSV. Wix has a built-in redirect manager, so if you land there, map the old URLs with 301 redirects before pointing the domain.
Hostinger Website Builder vs Wix, answered
Usually, especially once you add premium plan tiers and paid apps. Hostinger’s prepaid terms tend to cost less. Check renewal rates on both before deciding.
Wix, slightly, because it gives you more control over technical settings and structured data. For local search, though, your Google Business Profile and real reviews matter more than the builder.
Wix gives you more SEO control. Hostinger Website Builder: Meta fields and sitemaps; few advanced settings. Wix: Titles, redirects, robots.txt and custom structured data are all editable.
Hostinger Website Builder (partial): Pages, text, images and files can be exported to WordPress; styles, layout, the store, forms and SEO settings can’t. Wix (platform-only): Contacts, store products and CMS collections export as CSV; blog posts usually move with a migration tool or by hand. The design and pages have to be rebuilt.
