Want share images that match your brand?
Send me your site and I’ll check how your key pages look when shared, with a note on what to fix. Free.
How to use it
Paste your page URL, title and a short description.
Paste the full URL of a 1200 × 630 image. It loads in your own browser.
Check all three previews and shorten anything that looks cramped.
Copy the meta tags into your page’s head.
Why it matters
Every time someone shares your site, the platform builds a little card from your Open Graph tags. Without them, it guesses, and it usually guesses badly: the wrong image, a cookie notice as the description, or no card at all.
For a service business this card is often the first impression in a referral. A partner shares your site in a LinkedIn post or a group chat, and the card is what people see before they click.
The image does most of the work. Use 1200 × 630 pixels, keep text away from the edges, and make sure it still reads when shown small.
Good to know
Use absolute URLs
og:image must be a full URL starting with https://. Relative paths often fail.
Clear the cache
Platforms cache cards. After changing tags, use LinkedIn’s Post Inspector or Facebook’s Sharing Debugger to refresh them.
Previews are approximate
Each platform changes its layout from time to time. These previews show proportions and cropping, not pixel-perfect copies.
Open Graph preview: questions
1200 × 630 pixels is the safe default for LinkedIn, Facebook and X large cards. Keep important content in the centre, because some placements crop the edges.
LinkedIn caches link previews. Run the URL through LinkedIn’s Post Inspector to fetch it again after you update your tags.
X falls back to Open Graph tags for title, description and image. Adding twitter:card set to summary_large_image makes sure it uses the large layout.
No. It only uses what you type, and your browser loads the image URL directly. Nothing is sent to me.
