How do I get more leads from my website?

Short answerMake your most-visited pages do a better job before chasing more traffic. Say clearly what you do and for whom, show proof near the top, offer one obvious next step, and make contacting you easy on a phone. Then build pages that match what your customers search for. Small fixes on busy pages usually beat new features.

The longer answer

Start with the pages that already get visits

Check which pages get the most traffic in your analytics. For most service businesses it’s the homepage and two or three service pages. Improve those before writing anything new.

On each, ask whether a stranger would know within a few seconds what you do, where you work and why they should pick you. That last part is your value proposition. “Quality service since 2008” doesn’t answer it. “Same-week furnace repairs across Calgary and Airdrie” does.

Make the next step obvious and easy

  • One primary call to action per page, repeated after key sections.
  • A tappable phone number in the header on mobile.
  • A short form. Name, contact and a message is often enough.
  • Reviews, project photos or credentials near the top, not only on a separate page. These are your trust signals.

Then test the whole path yourself on a phone. Tap the button, fill the form, check it arrives. Every small snag along that path costs enquiries you’ll never see.

Then bring in more of the right visitors

Once your pages convert, more traffic pays off. Give each main service its own page, written around how customers search. Answer the questions people ask before they call. Keep your Google Business Profile complete and active, since it can send local enquiries straight to your phone. A lead magnet, like a pricing guide, can help in some industries, but it’s rarely the first fix. Respond quickly to every enquiry too. A lead answered the same day tends to go better than one left for a week.

What I’d do

Nick Lovett, founder of Tavro

I’d look at the service page with the most visits and rewrite the top of it first. A specific headline, one line on who it’s for, three pieces of proof and a clear button. That one change can do more than a full redesign. After that I check the form, the phone link and mobile speed. Only then would I build new pages. Many sites don’t need more content to get more leads. They need their best content to be easier to act on.

FAQ

Follow-up questions

  1. Eventually, if each one targets a real service or question. First make sure the pages you have convert visitors.

  2. Sometimes, for higher-value services with longer decisions. For urgent services, a fast way to call or book matters more.

  3. It can, if the current site is unclear, slow or untrustworthy. A redesign that only changes the look rarely moves enquiries.
